There are 19 parts to the animal/handler test.  To see detailed descriptions please click here to go the the Delta Society web page.

Part of the test is on basic obedience.  The other part of the test is aptitude.  This is a practical test of things that will happen frequently during visits to hospitals and nursing homes.  The screening is VERY important for the safety of the patients and the animals.  This test was formulated by animal behaviorists and veterinarians over many years.

Once completing the animal/handler test, the veterinarian screening process, and the Team Training Course and all information is sent to Delta Society, your animal then has a one million dollar PRIMARY insurance policy to protect against property damage or bodily injury.

Testing Schedule

We are getting ready to mail out letters to all those on our waiting list. See below for our upcoming Team Training Course and Evaluations dates.
Please contact us if you'd like information or to be put on the waiting list. You must sign up for the Team Training Class in advance and the deadline will be approximately 2 weeks before the course to allow us enough time to order the appropriate supplies.

Delta Society has changed some of our registration process. Below are the steps you must follow if you wish to join K-9s For Compassion and Delta Society:

TEAM TRAINING COURSE
You must first attend a Team Training Course taught by K-9s For Compassion Team Training Course Instructors who are licensed through Delta Society.
Our next Team Training Course will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 8 am to 6 pm.
This course is for the handlers only, you will leave your animal at home.

You MUST SIGN UP IN ADVANCE to attend this Team Training Course (deadline is Friday, May 22, 2009). Please contact the K-9s line at 330-534-2001 and leave your name, phone number and address and a registration packet will be sent to you.

EVALUATIONS
At the Team Training Course, or shortly after, you will be given an opportunity to schedule an evaluation with K-9s For Compassion Licensed Evaluators.
The evaluations will be held within a couple of weeks of the Team Training Course and will be by appointment only.
Our next evaluation date has not been set yet, please check back here for details.
This day will be the ONLY day you can be evaluated, and you must have attended our Team Training Course and have a scheduled appointment time.
